BALDNESS AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH HAIRCUT
BALDNESS AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH HAIRCUT
In my opinion, if we do not allow hair to grow and develop in a natural way, by cutting it excessively and repeatedly, can cause certain people to develop common baldness. I believe that the initial and triggering factor of this degenerative process is the interruption of the sebum flow secreted by the sebaceous gland. In this way I can explain, in an easy way, why only certain hairs on head are lost. But we can wonder, what does the haircut have to do with baldness? The answer is very clear for me: sebum. Let’s make a simple example: a healthy person with the hair long enough, let’s say 50 cm, goes to the hairdresser’s and has his/her hair cut half of its length. Has his/her hair suffered a significant change? It is generally believed that nothing happens and of course nothing that can cause hairloss. I also share that opinion, but if we examine the problem with more detail, we can soon realize that the haircut has not decreased to half the secretion of the sebaceous gland, (it is not that easy to treat acne or seborrhea), and therefore the sebum must be distributed in a smaller hair surface for some time, which means that hair becomes greasier. The person of the example does not have to develop baldness, since as the time goes by, the sebaceous gland will adapt to the new needs. But I believe that in other extreme cases, this excessive distribution of sebum can be a very important factor to trigger baldness. Well, but what do you think? Does anything of the hair system change just by a haircut? Do you think that a haircut is beneficial in any case? Also, have you been bothered, especially during childhood when you had to go to the hairdresser’s? In my case, I do remember that going to the hairdresser’s when I was a child was not my favorite, and even a friend of mine still has very vivid memories about the trauma that a cropped scalped haircut caused him when he was 6 years old. And by the way, as an anecdote, the Guinnes Record of long hair was an Asian who cut his hair for the first time at the age of 11 and he was about to die, therefore he did not cut it again until he died when he was about 70 years old, do you know its measure? Such case, as many others, is not explained by the present hair theory, well I don’t know if it was 4.5 mtrs or over 6 mtrs (since it was in feet!) Regards,
